Head Start Officials Pay for Conference Despite Funding Cuts

Head Start programs across the country found funds to send almost 3,000 leaders to a conference in National Harbor, Md., this week, even as many are sending students home more than a week early this year because of sequestration. The Office of Head Start hosted 2,800 people at their second annual "National Birth to Five Leadership Institute" conference at the Gaylord Hotel on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
